You don't have to figure out
everything before you begin.
Most people arrive at this page with questions, a little hesitation, and a sense that something needs to change. That's exactly the right place to start.
This page covers how the process works, what sessions cost, and what happens next. When you're ready, a free 15-minute consultation is always available — no commitment required.
Book Your Free 15-Minute ConsultationWhat to expect when you
reach out
The process is straightforward. Here's exactly what happens from your first contact to your first full session.
Start with a free 15-minute consultation
Reach out through the contact page and we'll schedule a brief call. This is a chance to talk about what's bringing you in, ask any questions you have, and get a sense of fit before committing to anything. There's no pressure and no sales pitch. If it seems like this isn't the right match, I'll tell you honestly and help you think through what might be a better option.
Booking for couples therapy? Fill in your own information on the contact form, then include your partner's name and contact information in the notes field so I can expect you both.
Schedule your first session and complete intake paperwork
Once we've talked and decided to move forward, we'll agree on a time for your first appointment during the consultation. I'll send you an invitation to the client portal, where you'll complete your intake paperwork before we meet. This includes practice policies, your privacy rights, a brief relevant history form, emergency contacts, and a credit card on file to hold your appointment. Nothing in these forms will surprise you, and nothing you share will surprise me.
Join your session from wherever you are
All sessions are telehealth via HIPAA-compliant video, accessible on any device. You'll receive a secure link before our appointment. A private, comfortable space to talk is all you need on your end, whether you're in New York, Connecticut, or Michigan.
Your first session: assessment and orientation
The first session is 55 minutes. We use the time to understand what you're navigating, establish what you want from therapy, and begin the work. I'll ask questions, you can ask questions, and we'll move forward from there.

no surprises

Private Pay
I am a private-pay provider. This allows me to maintain the highest level of clinical privacy, provide specialized care without the restrictions of insurance companies, and ensure a highly personalized experience. Payment is due at the time of service.
Individual clients may request a monthly superbill to submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement. I've partnered with Thrizer to make that process easier. Couples therapy sessions are generally not eligible for insurance reimbursement, and superbills are not available for those services. If you're hoping to use out-of-network benefits for couples work, a quick call to your provider before we begin is a good idea.
Before you reach out
It's a brief call — 15 minutes — to make sure we're a good fit before you commit to anything. We'll talk about what's bringing you in and what you're hoping to work on. There's no sales pitch and no pressure. If it seems like this isn't the right match, I'll say so and help you think through what might be a better fit.
Late cancellations or no-shows with less than 48 hours' notice are subject to a fee. Your card on file will be charged for the missed session. Life happens, and I try to be reasonable, but consistent last-minute cancellations affect the ability of others to access care.
I maintain a limited in-network caseload for existing BCBS PPO and BCN clients. All new openings are reserved for private-pay clients.
Effective January 1, 2022, all licensed healthcare providers are required to provide a Good Faith Estimate to clients who are uninsured or who are not using insurance for services.
How to estimate your cost: Multiply the session fee by the number of sessions you anticipate in a 12-month period. For example, weekly individual therapy at $225/session would be approximately $11,700 over a full year. This is an upper estimate. In practice, therapy goals and duration are revisited collaboratively and regularly.
This estimate does not include fees for late cancellations or no-shows with less than 48 hours' notice, and it does not constitute a diagnosis or predetermined treatment plan.
Under the law, you have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate before your first appointment, request one from any provider you are considering, and dispute a bill that exceeds your Good Faith Estimate by $400 or more.
A Good Faith Estimate does not obligate you to obtain any services. For more information, visit cms.gov/nosurprises.
